Post-Partum Haemorrhage

In hospital the drug Syntometrine (derived from the same source as Secale) is given to staunch bleeding after delivery. If you are not in hospital, contact Emergency Medical Services and take one of the remedies below.
Specific remedies to be taken every 5 minutes for up to 10 doses
- Remedy of first resort Secale 30c
- Blood dark and clotted, labour pains continue Pulsatilla 30c
- Profuse bleeding, backache which feels like period pain, tingling sensation in vagina, body feels as if it is getting larger Crocus 30c
- Exhaustion from blood loss during labour China 30c
- Continuous, profuse bleeding, bright red blood, nausea and vomiting, feeling cold and clammy, gasping for breath Ipecac. 30c
- Dark clots of blood lost intermittently, haemorrhage associated with outburst of anger Chamomilla 30c
- Bright red blood which clots easily, pulse hard and full, face burning hot Ferrum 30c
- Slightest movement causes bleeding, blood mixed with fluid, blood dark and clotted as well as bright red Sabina 30c
- Profuse bleeding with intermittent after pains, blood hot and bright red, feeling of pressure in abdomen Belladonna 30c
