Ear Wax

The function of wax is to clean and moisten the ear canal. Over-production may block the canal, causing a feeling of fullness in the ear, strange noises in the ear, EaracheDeafness, and sometimes Dizziness. Under-production is thought by some to be a cause of Tinnitus. There is also evidence that wax melts during ear infection, due to the heat of inflammation, so a waxy discharge and earache may indicate infection. A tendency to produce too much wax may respond to constitutional treatment.

Specific remedy to be taken 4 times daily for to 7 days

  • Copious production of wax and intermittent loss of hearing Causticum 6c

Self-help: A few drops of pure olive or almond oil in the affected ear 5 nights running (use a dropper) will soften hardened wax and sometimes dislodge it. Lying in a warm bath with ears submerged may also be effective. If blockage persists, ask your medical doctor to syringe the ear. Do not try to remove wax with cotton buds, 'Q tips', etc.
