Growing Pains

Aching, heavy pains in the calves and thighs, usually experienced between age of six and thirteen, and usually worse at night. Cause not known, but growth is certainly not the cause. May respond to constitutional treatment.

Specific remedies to be taken nightly for up to 14 nights to relieve bouts of pain

  • Dragging pains in ankles and knees, worse for walking, especially if child is overweight, pale, clammy, has head sweats at night, and was a late walker Calcarea 30c
  • Pains worse in cold, wet weather, aggravated by heat and exertion but better when pressure is applied Guaiacum 30c
  • Child feels weak, pains come on after prolonged stress and feel as if bones are being scraped, worse after exertion Phosphoric ac. 6c

Self-help: Two tablets of Calc. Fluor tissue salt and Calc Phos. tissue salt 3 times a day are often beneficial. Make sure diet is not lacking in calcium and Vitamin D.
