An Autoimmune Disease similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Usually onsets between age of two and five, but often disappears at puberty. Symptoms are intermittent, and include Fever, joint pains, Weight Loss, loss of appetite (see Appetite Changes), and sometimes Anaemia, swollen lymph glands, and eye trouble. If most of the above symptoms are present, consult your doctor if there is no improvement in 12 hours. Conventional treatment is by anti-inflammatory drugs, physiotherapy, and splinting affected limb. Constitutional homeopathic treatment is recommended.
Specific remedies to be given 4 times daily for up to 5 days
- Symptoms brought on by cold, damp weather, aggravated by rest and by first movements after rest, alleviated by continued movement Rhus tox. 30c
- Symptoms aggravated by slightest movement, soothed by rest and cold applications Bryonia 30c
- Skin over affected joints red, swollen, and shiny, stinging pains in joints aggravated by heat or slightest pressure Apis 30c
- Symptoms come on after injury Arnica 30c
- Symptoms worse in cold, rainy weather, especially if child has become overheated Dulcamara 30c
- Pains flit from joint to joint and feel worse for heat, child tearful and clinging Pulsatilla 30c
