Scabies

Intense itchy rash on trunk, with itchy red lumps on hands, wrists, genitals, or buttocks; scratching causes sores and scabs; culprit is scabies mite or 'itch mite', a parasite which burrows under skin to lay eggs, which hatch into more mites; transmitted by personal and sexual contact, or caught from infested clothes or bedding; mites thrive where there is overcrowding and poor hygiene. If the self-help measures and the homeopathic remedy given below do not improve matters within 1 week, see your medical doctor; he or she will probably prescribe an insecticide lotion.

Specific remedies to be given every 12 hours for up to 3 days to all members of family / household whether infected or not, provided they do not suffer from eczema

  • Sulphur 30c

Self-help: Apply Lavender oil (obtainable from chemist) to lesions. Launder all clothes and bedding in household; if certain items cannot be laundered, stop using them and thoroughly air them for at least 4 days. Mites cannot survive for more than a day or two away from human skin.
