Floaters

Small objects which seem to drift across field of vision when eyes or head are turned; in the elderly, cause may be degeneration of vitreous humour inside the eyeball; other causes may be Detached Retina or bleeding into the eye. In naturopathy, if the above causes have been ruled out, floaters are taken to be a symptom of a sluggish liver and a build up of toxins in the body. If condition worsens, or if vision starts to blur, consult your doctor if there is no improvement in 2 hours.

Specific remedies to be taken 3 times daily for up to 7 days

  • Where specialist has diagnosed bleeding from back of eye Hamamelis 6c
  • Floaters associated with misty vision Phosphorus 6c

Self-help: if the above remedies do not help, and if retinal detachment has been ruled out, follow the Liver Diet for 1 month.
