Ganglion

A small swelling in a joint capsule or in a sheath around a tendon; swelling is filled with a jelly-like substance which may be soft or quite firm; harmless and usually painless, and most common on wrist or upper surface of foot. If such a swelling develops, see your medical doctor to make sure it is nothing serious. Surgery is seldom advised as ganglia tend to recur and sometimes disappear of their own accord; instead, medical doctor may try to disperse swelling with percussion.

Specific remedies to be taken 4 times daily for up to 7 days

  • Ganglia in tendons on inside of arm or wrist Ruta 6c
  • Ganglia associated with strong-smelling urine Benzoic ac. 6c

Self-help: Small ganglia may be removed by squeezing firmly or by hitting with a book.
