Pityriasis Rosea

A skin rash, probably caused by a virus, which mainly affects children and young adults, especially in spring and autumn; often starts as single ring-shaped, reddish brown, scaly patch - a 'herald' patch - on trunk, then in space of 7-10 days smaller patches appear on trunk, neck, upper arms, and thighs; usually clears up of own accord within 2-3 months; may cause minor itching and a mild Sore Throat. Conventional treatment, if rash is bad, is steroid cream and antihistamine. If the remedies given below are not effective within a week or two, see your homeopath or medical doctor.

Specific remedies to be given 4 times daily for up to 7 days

  • Anxiety, restlessness, wanting sips of water all the time Arsenicum 6c
  • Spots fiery red, burning, and painful Radium brom. 6c
  • Spots show red under thin white scales, warmth or exercise makes itchiness worse Natrum mur. 6c

Self-help: Apply Urtica ointment to affected areas.
