From Cephaelis (or Psychotria) ipecacuanha, Ipecacuanha. The homeopathic remedy is made from the dried root, whose active principle, emetine, is used in orthodox medicine as an emetic and expectorant. In herbal medicine, ipecacuanha is used to treat dermatitis.
