Spongia

Euspongia officinalis - roasted common sponge

This remedy is prepared from the common sponge, toasted. The active constituents of sponge are iodine and bromine, which in excessive amounts irritate and inflame the larynx, trachea, thyroid gland, heart and testicles.

Constitutional Indications
Spongia is most effective in people who are light-haired, blue-eyed, lean and rather dried-up looking. It is especially good if tuberculosis or chest complaints run in the family.
