Treatments - Special Diets

On reading through the Ailments & Diseases section you may be referred to one of the diets below. These diets should not be undertaken as a punishment but as a challenge to you to find new foods to eat and new ways of cooking. If, however, you are suffering from a severe illness or are on orthodox drugs, it is better to ask your physician if it is all right to start the diet. However, it is very unlikely that any of these diets will lead to problems, provided that a wide enough variety of foods is eaten and that you eat them in sensible quantities. Remember that to get sufficient protein you need to mix grains and pulses in a ratio of 2:1, and of that mixture you only need 3/4 of the weight of meat that you'd normally eat.
