Stress

Notoriously difficult to define since similar events affect people differently; one person's 'enjoyable challenge' may be another's 'last straw'. Psychologist Hans Seyle has theorised that we all make some attempt to improve performance under pressure, but that at some point we all begin to suffer from overload if the pressure continues, we lose our resilience, tire and fall into ill health.

In homeopathic medicine, ailments such as food AllergyAsthmaHypoglycaemia, digestive disorders, High Blood Pressure, etc., are looked on as manifestations of stress. Accordingly, treatment is long-term and constitutional. However, in acute circumstances, one of the remedies may be appropriate.

Specific remedies to be given every 4 hours for up to 10 days

Self-help: Learn some form of relaxation or meditation, even if it is only 10 minutes a day. Shed one or two burdens/obligations and don't take on any new ones until you feel better - learn how to say no. Eat at regular times, and get a proper night's rest. Take Vitamin B complex. Take more exercise, but don't exercise to the point of tiredness. If you need emotional support, try counselling; the counsellor’s job is to work with you, pinpointing areas of stress and helping you deal with them.
