Thrombophlebitis

Inflammation of a vein, usually due to injury or infection; roughening of wall of affected vein encourages development of blood clots (see Thrombosis). Condition is most common in superficial veins of legs, and in people who suffer from Varicose Veins. Symptoms are pain, redness, tenderness, itching, and hard swelling along length of affected vein. If infection is present, person may also have Fever; if this is the case, consult your doctor if there is no improvement in 48 hours. Main risks are Septicaemia and fragmenting of blood clots (embolism). Orthodox medicine offers antibiotics and compression bandaging. Homeopathic treatment is constitutional, aimed at increasing resistance to infection and promoting natural resorption of blood clots. In the meantime, the following remedies will ease pain and promote healing.

  • If condition follows injury Arnica 30c
  • After taking Arnica, if bruising and soreness persist Hamamelis 6c
