Umbilical Hernia

Soft bulge of tissue around navel due to weakness in abdominal wall; bulge can be pushed back into tummy but tends to reappear when baby cries. There is little danger of underlying section of intestine becoming strangulated (see Hernia). Most such hernias are painless and heal of own accord during first year; if surgery is necessary, it is usually done between age of three and five. If homeopathic remedies below do not produce some improvement within 2 months, see your medical doctor.

Specific remedies to be given 3 times a day for up to 3 weeks

  • Infant or toddler who is overweight, very quiet, prone to head sweats at night, especially if he or she likes to eat earth or worms Calcarea 6c
  • Infant or toddler who is thin and weedy, with a large head and sweaty feet Silicea 6c
  • In all other cases Nux 6c
