Bronchiolitis

Viral infection which causes swelling of the membranes lining the smaller airways (bronchioles) in the lungs. Usually occurs in children under 18 months old, often after Colds, and is most dangerous in children under six months old. If, within 2-3 days of starting a cold, child begins to wheeze, has difficulty breathing, looks blue around lips, and refuses food, consult your doctor if there is no improvement in 2 hours as there may be a danger of Heart Failure or Pneumonia.

Specific remedies to be taken every 10 minutes for up to 10 doses until help arrives

  • Child hoarse, wheezy, blue in face, exhaled breath feels cold, attack comes on in evening Carbo veg. 30c
  • Child exhausted with trying to breathe, too weak to cough up loose phlegm, nostrils sucked in with effort of breathing, vomiting Antimonium tart. 30c
