From Solanum dulcamara, woody nightshade or bitter-sweet. This plant contains an alkaloid called solanin, which paralyses the vagus nerve and causes the heart to pump faster. The homeopathic remedy is prepared from the stems and leaves of the plant just before it comes into flower, and is traditionally used to treat conditions brought on by changes from warm to cold, or from warm to damp and cold.
